Portraits and Self-Portraits - Start Looking

I really like this picture because I feel like there is a lot of meaning to this picture. I like how he has disguised himself. He looks like his is thinking about something, or somebody.

I like this picture because everything is all jumbled up. It shows that there is a purpose for why the picture is arranged in this certain way. I like the way the pictures were organized.
I want to take a picture of myself in a creative way.

Ethics in Fashion Photography

1. List the changes that were made to the model's face in the computer.
Her acne goes away.
Her eyes get bigger.
Her neck becomes longer.
Her eyebrows perk up and get darker.
They fix her hair.

2. Is it ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance like this in a photo? Why or why not?
I believe it is unethical because it is not the true persons apperance.

3. Are there circumstances in which it would be more ethically wrong to do this type of manipulation?
If there was a singer who was fat but they made her look skinny in videos and pictures, because people thought she was to fat.
4. What types of changes are OK, and what aren't?
OK=Making your eyes a different color, or Making your lips a different color.
Bad=Making yourself skinny, or Making your body more physically attractive.
5. Explain what you think the differences are between fashion photography and photojournalism.
Fashion photography makes women and men look more physically attractive, while photojournalism keeps people looking the same that they are.
6. What relationship does each type of photography have to reality, and how does this affect the ethical practice of each? Photoshop makes people fake. If people use that to make themselves look beautiful that is wrong. You are lying to yourself and others. I feel like that is horrible to do to yourself. Just accept the way you are.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

1)A. Summarize the main points of the story in 1-4 sentences.
Photographers are manipulating photographs and are getting fired for it.
B. Explain why you think this type of photo editing is unethical or acceptable.
I think it is unethical because it is not the truth. The photos that are manipulated are lies that make you more interested.
2)A. Post the manipulation that you think was the most unethical, and explain why you think it was unethical. If you do not know what the word ethic or unethical means, look them up on the internet. It is very important you know what those two words mean.

I think this is unethical because its not the truth. They never debated.
B. Post the manipulation that you consider the least unethical, and explain why you think it is not as bad as others.

I don't think the manipulation on this photo is bad because all they did was paste a head on another body.

National Geographic Warm-up

1. Post your favorite photo.

2. Tell me why this is your favorite photo (write at least 3 sentences)
I've always been fascinated with these kinds of photography. It is a walcanoe eruption with a thunderstorm going on, and I believe there is a tornado forming from the smoke of the valcanoe. I've always wanted to take a picture like this.

3. Think about your world, what photo would you take to submit to this photo contest?
I want to submit a highspeed picture of a bubble popping.

Abandoned Theme Parks

1. Tell me which amusement park featured in the two articles that you would like to visit and take your camera along and what about that park made you want to go there.
Takakanonuma Greenland, Hobara, Japan
2. Post one photo from that park. You may use the photos from the link, or you can google an entirely new photo. I would prefer to see a photo of the park in disrepair and not a photo of it when it was still operating.

3. Think of at least FIVE other unusual places you think would be of interest to photographers. List them.
A)Haunted House
B)Cemetery
C)Inside A Volcanoe
D)Rainforest
E)Bottom Of The Ocean
4. Use google or another search engine to research ONE of your five places and see if anyone has already started documenting that place. If you find that someone has already started - post at least one photo of their work.

5. Write a paragraph about why you think that it would be fun to document that location. Tell me what interests you about that place and what kind of photos you could expect to take there.
I want to take pictures of the bottom of the ocean because not alot of people know what is down there. I want to see if i can capture a photo of an unknown fish and be the first one to discover it. I would try to see if i can find an abandoned ship at the bottom of the ocean.
6. Tell me what it would take for you to go and take photos at your location. What would you need as far as equipment goes, travel plans, expenses you might encounter and what laws you would have to take into consideration to take photos at your spot.
I would need some oxygen tanks, if I want to go far i would need a submarine because the pressure would blow up my oxygen tank and i would die. I feel like it is a big risk but it is worth taking.
